How to create the perfect timeline for your wedding day

If you are just here for the images, don’t hesitate to browse through Sarah and Dave’s incredible wedding day below right away! Shea’s Seneca definitely exceeded my expectations by far, it is a beautiful new venue in the heart of West Seneca.

Now let’s talk about how to structure your wedding day. One major decision I would start with is wether to do a first look or not. That is when you see each other before the ceremony and we take photos beforehand. That can be photos of just the two of you or we can also start with group photos, especially the wedding party. I have written another post about why I like the first look at lot here. The first look can give you a very relaxed photo session and generally speaking even more photos of the two of you.

However, I totally understand if you want to go more traditional and skip that all together. If you do so, we can always take your photos in your cocktail hour and maybe more during sunset time. Also, it takes a lot of pressure from those wedding day photos if you do an engagement session.

Plan more room for everything

Either way, if you want to avoid stress on your wedding day, plan everything with some wiggle room. If you decide on a first look at 1pm, how about you plan to be ready for it by 12:30pm? If you are, hang out with your closest friends and family for a little bit. If you need more time, you have it. This works for everything, if Google maps claims a location is 10 minutes away, expect it to take 20, especially if you have a lot of people to get there in a limo.

Minimize locations if possible

Recently I see more and more people to do everything at just one location. That saves travel time and any feeling that you still need to go somewhere. Nothing is more relaxing that getting ready at your ceremony and reception venue. Of course that might not be feasible. since not all venues offer that option. Or you might prefer to do the ceremony at a church etc.

This is where the extra time comes in handy. If you plan everything with breathing room, multiple locations can still make for a relaxing wedding day. This brings us back to Sarah and Dave’s wedding below. The day started at a house, then I went to the Marriott, we did the first look right in front of it at Canalside, went to Tifft and then to Shea’s Seneca. Even though I was at five locations, everything felt very stress-free because there was never any rush needed.

I am always happy to talk about your timeline through the planning process, so feel free to reach out at any time!
